A Austrália será a próxima vítima da PSA?

A Indonésia se tornou o mais recente país a confirmar um surto da mortal doença dos suínos, a peste suína africana (PSA), que poderá matar aproximadamente um quarto da população mundial de suínos

A notícia Fears of African swine fever reaching Australia rise, as Indonesia confirms outbreak (por Jess Davis e Nikolai Beilharz) do ABC de 16 de dezembro de 2017, diz que os viajantes australianos pela Ásia estão sendo alertados para que não tragam alimentos derivados da carne suína e que seus calçados sejam desinfetados (sem restos de solo), situações que colocam em risco o status sanitário australiano de área livre de peste suína africana (PSA).

 

 

Biossegurança reforçada — A ministra da Agricultura da Austrália, Hon Bridget McKenzie, disse que a notícia do surto de PSA na Indonésia era preocupante, pois são 188 voos semanais vindos da Indonésia diretamente para as cidades australianas. "Bali é um destino de férias favorito para os australianos e também é uma região com muitos suínos", afirmou a ministra. "Temos uma abordagem de tolerância zero para as pessoas que mentem sobre o que têm na bagagem e recusamos a entrada na Austrália de (...) pessoas flagradas com material de risco de biossegurança".

As pessoas flagradas importando produtos derivados da carne suína podem enfrentar processos criminais ou ações em tribunais civis, pagar uma multa de US$ 420.000 e serem condenadas a até 10 anos de prisão.

Na semana passada, o governo federal anunciou um financiamento extra de US$ 66 milhões para aumentar a biossegurança nas fronteiras da Austrália.

Esse dinheiro será destinado para reforçar o quadro de pessoal com mais 130 oficiais de fronteira, cães farejadores e duas novas máquinas de raio-X 3D que serão instaladas em aeroportos e centrais dos correios.

 

Situação da peste suína africana (PSA) na Ásia

Conforme o panorama global de 12 de dezembro de 2019 que abrange todos os países afetados feito pela Organização das Nações Unidas para Alimentação e Agricultura (FAO), Agriculture and consumer Protection Department & Animal Production and Health.

 

 

Vírus da PSA é vizinho da Alemanha

Conforme a notícia ASF Poland: Germany gearing up defence (por Kees van Dooren) do Pig Progress de 13 de dezembro de 2019, a fiscalização agropecuária da Alemanha, especialmente, no Estado Federal de Brandenburgo que no leste tem fronteira com a Polônia, prepara-se para evitar que a peste suína africana (PSA) ingresse no país.

Ursula Nonnemacher, ministra dos Assuntos Sociais, Saúde, Integração e Defesa do Consumidor do Estado Federal de Brandemburgo, anunciou a adoção de medidas adicionais para evitar essa doença.

 

 

Uma das medidas preventivas é a intensificação da caça de javalis selvagens nos distritos localizados nas imediações da fronteira leste com a Polônia. Além disso, em uma faixa de cerca de 15 km da fronteira, haverá uma busca intensificada pelos atropelamentos de javalis nas rodovias. Quanto mais cedo uma carcaça de javali infectada pelo vírus da PSA for encontrada, maior a chance de limitar sua propagação.

 

 

Na Alemanha cogita-se a construção de uma cerca na fronteira com a Polônia com o objeto de tentar evitar a PSA. A Dinamarca construiu uma cerca de contenção que cobre toda a extensão da sua fronteira com a Alemanha, embora até agora nenhum animal infectado pelo vírus da PSA tenha sito encontrado.

 

PSA na Moldávia

Na Modávia, um país localizado no Leste Europeu, surgiu a primeira ocorrência de peste suína africana (PSA).

 

 

Nesse país, conforme a Notificação Imediata da OIE de 20-12-2019, foram encontrados cinco javalis selvagens contaminados com o mortal vírus da PSA.
